Sunny spells to start the day for Co Kildare with top temperatures of 18C
Met Eireann is predicting a week of warm weather for much of the country with temperatures set to reach 20C tomorrow-but the wet spell isn't likely to ease up just yet although there will be good sunny spells for Co Kildare today.
There will be scattered showers in the north of Leinster but it will be drier further south with just the odd shower there and good sunny spells. Top temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds easing by evening.
Tonight will be mostly dry apart from an isolated shower. Lowest temperatures will fall to between 5 and 8 degrees in just light southwesterly breezes with some patches of mist and fog forming
Forecasters say mercury is expected to reach 18C this afternoon with showers dying out.
They said: "There will be frequent and heavy showers in the west and north at first today, but showers will ease later in the day with a few heavy ones remaining in the north.Elsewhere will be mostly dry with good sunny spells and just the odd passing shower but later this afternoon and evening scattered showers will break out in the east.
"Top temperatures of 15 to 18C in moderate to fresh southwest winds easing by evening. Tonight will be mostly dry apart from a few showers at first in the east and north but these will die out later. Lowest temperatures will fall to between 5 and 8C in just light southwesterly breezes with some patches of mist and fog forming."
Meanwhile, tomorrow Tuesday will be 'mostly dry with some sunny spells' and temperatures reaching as high as 20C.
