A driving instructor has been fined and issued penalty points by gardaí in Kildare.
Recently, members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit were on patrol when they stopped a Hyundai i20.
The driver was in fact a driving instructor and in a dual controlled training vehicle.
Gardaí concluded that the sole occupant of the car was driving whilst holding a mobile phone.

When requested by the roads policing unit to produce their licence, the driver was unable to do so.
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued, including a €120 fine and three penalty points.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in Kildare said on social media, “Road safety rules apply to everyone — especially those responsible for teaching others how to drive safely.
“Put the phone away. No call or message is worth risking lives on the road,” they concluded.
