The Naas Roads Policing Unit conducted a mandatory intoxicant checkpoint recently where 35 drivers were tested.
Taking place on the Dublin Road, gardaí were “pleased” to report that all drivers passed.
However, one vehicle was impounded after it was found to be driven by an unaccompanied learner driver. No L-plates were displayed also.

A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued, including a €280 fine and two penalty points.
As well as this, another driver received a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice for allowing a child to travel unrestrained in the rear of the vehicle. In this case, a €120 fine and three penalty points were issued.
Commenting on the checkpoint, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in Kildare said on social media, “Please remember to always drive safely, display L-plates where required, and ensure all passengers are properly restrained.”
