Members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit responded to complaints from the public regarding dangerous speeding on the busy L7006 Wheelam, Miltown
A driver in Kildare has been issued penalty points after overtaking gardaí at speed on a continuous white line.
Whilst on patrol recently, members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit (RPU) responded to complaints from the public regarding dangerous speeding on the busy L7006 Wheelam, Miltown. This is a 60km/h local road, not a “racetrack,” gardaí have stated.
It was here that the RPU were overtaken in a “reckless manoeuvre” which resulted in the motorist being issued a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice and penalty points.

Also during a speed check, several drivers were detected exceeding the limit, with one travelling at 85km/h. A €160 fine and three penalty points followed.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in the county said, “Let’s be clear: This is a local road. This is a community area. This level of speed is completely unacceptable.
“Speeding isn’t just a statistic — it’s the difference between life and death. These roads are used by families, children, walkers, and local residents every single day. Slow down. Stay alert. Save lives. No journey is worth the risk,” they concluded.
