One man pronounced dead following fatal housefire in Dublin this morning

One man has been pronounced dead following a house fire in Dublin earlier this morning.

The man has died from injuries sustained in a fire at a house on Grove Road in Rathmines earlier today. Emergency services responded to the scene this morning to deal with the fire which broke out at approximately 7am.

Three people were taken to St James' Hospital from the scene and one man was subsequently pronounced dead. Gardaí have no further details on the deceased at this time. The other two people remain in hospital and are understood not to be seriously injured.

Three ambulances and eight units of the Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the scene earlier this morning and managed to extinguish the fire shortly after 8am.

Grove Road remains closed and diversions are in place in the area.
