Councillor Morgan McCabe has claimed that out of control weeds are causing towns to be untidy.

The independent politician called on Kildare Co Council to implement 'more regular or scheduled weed killing programme' for Newbridge and Kildare Town.

He claimed: "Weeds are causing major untidiness issues in our towns."

Cllr McCabe also said the unwelcome vegetation was causing a nuisance for Tidy Towns volunteers.

He will raise the issue at the the local municipal district meeting next week.
