Kildare Co Coucil said it has undertaken an Accessibility Survey of Maynooth town centre to help pedestrians with mobility issues.

The Council has currently engaged a consultant to drawn up a design specification for an accessible friendly street scape.

Once this is completed, Council workers will complete a section of the pavement in Maynooth using this specification.

A Council spokesperson said: "We cannot cost any works until this design specification has been completed.

"It is at present about 95% complete.

"A draft specification was completed and following a public consultation has gone back to the consultant to make amendments."

The issue was raised at a recent Municipal District meeting.

It also emerged that an Age Friendly Walkability audit in Leixlip will be scheduled for late Spring/early Summer.
