Prince Charles and Camilla visit cost €2m

The Irish visits of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall cost more than €2 million, it has been revealed.
€2,119,742 was spent by Gardaí on security during a trip in May of this year, according to documents released to The Irish Times under the Freedom of Information Act.
Most of this cost relates to the visit by the royal couple to Dublin, Kildare and Kilkenny in May which included engagements in the Curragh Camp and the National Stud.
In May 2015 the royal couple also went on a high-security trip to Co Sligo, where the prince’s great-uncle was killed in an IRA bombing in 1979.
