Kildare County Council has said that a proposed extension for a dog pound has been lodged, with the Council planning to also carry out works on the dog pound at Farnaling Cottage, Portersize, Timolin, Co Kildare.

The Council is intending to develop an extension to the existing dog pound which will be divided into a public area and a private area.

Firstly, the Council hopes to include a public area, improvement works to the existing road entrance 9L-8037), new entrance yard with visitors parking, new reception area, and viewing gallery for visitors. For the private areas, improvements that have been suggested include a new private pound yard with van wash area, kennel extension (5 units), kennel block with isolation unit (4 units) and a kennel yard.

The site area is 0.099 Hectares for the proposed development which would involve extending the currently facility into part of the adjoining farm building and yard, with the creation of private and public areas  to accommodate an increased number of dogs and create comfortable viewing for members of the public.

Plans for the proposed extension can be viewed at a fee during the normal opening hours from today until Tuesday 12 December, at the Environment Department, Kildare County Council at Ballitore Library and Kildare County Council's website www.kildare.ie/countycouncil
