R445 fully reopened following serious crash between truck and car

This is the scene from a serious accident that occurred on the Naas/Newbridge dual carriageway earlier this evening.

The Toyota people carrier was left badly damaged following a collision with a truck.

The incident happened shortly after 4pm when the truck and a car collided near the crossroads halfway between the Toughers Industrial Estate roundabout and Naas, heading in the Naas direction.

The road was closed by Gardaí as they dealt with the incident, but it is now fully reopened in both directions.

A man was removed from the car following the accident by emergency services.

The road between Toughers Industrial PArk and Newbridge remains closed due to flooding however.
