Irish Rail bosses have agreed to consider re-opening the toilets at Newbridge train station.
The company said it was forced to shut the facilities due to anti-social behaviour.
Fianna Fail TD Fiona O'Loughlin said she met Irish Rail CEO David Franks to discuss the issue.
The TD said: "I welcome the response that they will consider reopening the toilets."
O'Loughlin also said she raised other issues impacting on constituents - such as fare prices and overcrowding in carriages.
Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy has vowed to raise the issue over the toilets with Council officials at the local municipal district meeting next week.
She will ask if the Council can offer CCTV cover for the toilets to enable Irish Rail to re-open them."
