A popular restaurant in the Food Court of Whitewater Shopping Centre has closed permanently.
Staff and management at the Broadway Deli blamed rising costs and tough trading conditions for the sad news.
The New York-style Deli Bar served American Style Deli Sandwiches, as well as Hot Breakfasts and a Hot Carvery.
It had also branched out into Slimmers' Menu meals in recent times.
Regular customers preferred the home-cooked style dinners in comparison to the fast food options nearby.
County Kildare Chamber CEO Allan Shine said that there are many cost pressures on small businesses trying to survive in the current climate.
He said: "Minimum wage levels continue to be raised by the Government each year.
"Employers' PRSI increased this month and will increase next January also.
"The VAT rate went from 9% to 13.5% this month and the cost of insurance also continues to rise."
A message posted on Broadway Deli's Facebook said:
"The staff and management at the Broadway Deli would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your custom and loyalty over the years that we have been trading.
"Unfortunately due to rising costs and tough trading conditions we reluctantly have had to come to the decision to close our business in Whitewater SC permanently.
The message added: "God Bless and once again thank you all for your support in the past."
