Revenue officers seized over 540 litres of wine, beer and spirits in separate routine operations in Dublin Port  over the weekend and this morning with alcohol estimated to be worth €6,000  seized at the scene.

Officers discovered the smuggled alcohol concealed in the loads, when they stopped and searched a van and two trucks that had disembarked ferries from the UK.

The three drivers, all men in their thirties and forties, were questioned and the alcohol with a total value of over €6,000 and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €3,000, was seized.

These seizures are part of Revenue's on going operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal alcohol in the shadow economy.
