Roses competing for the international Rose of Tralee title later this year were treated to some Kildare culinary delights when they toured the county, courtesy of the inaugural Taste of Kildare Food Festival taking place at the K Club on August 19.
Organised by Into Kildare, the county’s tourist board, Kildare will once again play host to the entire group of Rose of Tralee contestants in association with Kildare Co Council and the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth.
An introductory tour party of Roses 'did a recce' in the county last week - Roisin McCloskey (Antrim), Shauna Ray Lacey (Carlow), Grainne Carr (Kildare), Loren Katie Logan (Longford) and Celine O’Shea (Kerry).
The preliminary visit saw the contestants meet and greet with newly-elected Mayor of Kildare Seán Power and council officials at Áras Chill Dara, Naas.
There was also a visit to the National Stud and Japanese Gardens at Tully, a trip to Kildare Farm Foods at Rathmuck and events in Sallins, including a trip on the Grand Canal and visits to the Lock 13 gastropub, Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, Kildare Brewing Company and Two Cooks restaurant.
