A 44-acre area of land that was on public auction at the Keadeen Hotel on Thursday was withdrawn from the sale at €2.3 million and its sale is currently under negotiation.

The site is located on the Nurney road in Kildare Town, directly opposite the site of Kildare Village. It had been on the market for €2.6 million.

The property is situated in an area zoned Q "Enterprise and Employment" under the Kildare Town Local Area Plan 2012 - 2018. The site is also highlighted for a new road and street objective phase 1 which is to link the current roundabout accessing Modus Link and the Village Outlet Centre to the Monasterevin Road. There is also 91 metres of set-back of development from the M7 motorway.

Another nearby plot of land was sold at the same auction on Thursday for €470,000. The 5.8-acre site is located adjacent to Kildare Village and the 44-acre site that was withdrawn from auction on Thursday.

The subject site currently has planning permission for hotel, drive thru restaurant, office units and a retail unit. The permission forms part of a larger residential/commercial scheme on adjoining lands which are not part of this sale.
