Sallins will be benefitting for the first time with additional late night services from Dublin in the lead up to and over the Christmas period.
Deputy James Lawless said “I am delighted to have confirmation from Irish Rail that late night services will be in place for constituents over the Christmas period. It was always a source of frustration for many wanting to go to Christmas parties with work or friends but first having the logistical difficulty of getting home afterwards."
He said: "These services have long been available on other lines and I welcome their addition now for the first time to the Sallins line. I have been a long-time advocate for additional services, particularly later in the evenings. We have made significant progress in the past year for commuters with extra services via the Phoenix Park tunnel and of course the Leap card extension. I intend to continue my work in 2018 to improve the rail services in the constituency. Parking remains a bug bear at Sallins and many other stations and I have raised that with Irish Rail and the Minister several times."
Deputy Lawless said: “I understand trains will now be leaving Pearse Street Station and Parkwest late into the night to help commuters home on the weekends of the 8th, 15th, and 22nd of December, and over New Years Eve/Day."
