Speeding charges against a pensioner were brought before Naas District Court today.

The 77-year-old man with an address at Enniscorthy, Co Wexford,  was caught driving at a speed of 111km in a 100km zone, at Greenhills, Kill, on September 12, 2017.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said: "77-years-old and he is speeding."

The Judge said: "It is a credit that he is a 77-year-old and still driving."

Defence Solicitor, Conal Boyce, outlined to the court how the pensioner was in hospital and did not get the fixed penalty notice.

Judge Desmond Zaidan ruled that 'given the circumstances', he would strike out the speeding charge.
