Kevin O'Callaghan of Kildare at Markievicz Park
A point in the 77 minute of time added by Sligo's David Quinn earned his side a well deserved draw with Kildare this afternoon at Markievicz Park in the opening round of Group 3 of All-Ireland Series.
In a game that saw Kildare finish with 13 players and Sligo with 14 looked to be going Kildare's way when leading by three points 67 minute but Sligo refused to lie down and roll over and fought back to score the final three points of the game.
In a game that lacked quality Kildare led by one at the break, 0-7 to 0-6 but it was Sligo who took the initiative in the second half, going two clear before Kildare hit back with points from Alex Beirne and a Paddy Woodgate 45 and while Sligo regained the lead Darragh Kirwan and Paddy Woodgate (free) had The Lilies back in front.
The influential Sean Carrabine leveled, Aaron Masterson regained the lead for Kildare and when Jack Robinson (free) and Darragh Kirwan put the visitors three up it looked all over but Sligo hit back with the final three points of the game to gained a fully deserved share of the points.
Final score: Kildare 0-14 Sligo 0-14.
