Favourites, Naas, defeated Coill Dubh in the Round 1 (Group A) of the UPMC SHC at Manguard Park on Friday.
Coill Dubh more than held their own in the opening half, trailing by just a single point but following some 'words of wisdom' from manager Tom Mullally the champions pulled clear on the resumption to win with ease.
In the other Group A game it was Éire Óg Corrachoill who got the better of Ardclough in a top class game played in atricious conditions with continuous rain throughout, on Saturday evening.
