Kildare GAA: Sunday Championship results

Maynooth caused the shock of the 2023 Joe Mallon SFC with a six point win over a fancied Athy side.

Maynooth led at the break, playing with the strong wind, 1-4 to 0-5, the goal coming from Eoin Donnellan and in the second half Donnellan struck again along with Sean Hever to win on a final score line of Maynooth 3-7 Athy 0-10 which all makes for a very interesting Round 3 games in two weeks time when Maynooth play Sarsfields, who have zero points, while Athy play Naas, the county champions already through to the quarter-finals.
