On the extra Monday night’s racing at Newbridge last evening (November 13) greyhound stadium the card was made up
with four twelve dog sweepstakes as well a one off contest. Quickest over the course of the evening
was Flying Flute who scored in a very good 28.74. Trainer of the week Keith Powell sent out two
winners to complement his four from Friday night.
Racing opened with the Alan O’Connor owned Kilara Shimmer taking over the front running
mantle following a pretty level break by all. Holding all the aces once in front the daughter of
Laughill Blake – Kilara Lizzie went on to record her first race success when breaking the ray in a nice
17.99. Seven lengths off this nice winner Nailors Tango had four to spare over third placed Mydras
Chase.
Fundraising Nights A5 525 Semi Final: Appreciating a drop down the grades the Geoff
Bateman owned Evies Blue hit the first turn just ahead of Montore Harry and Clonfert Buddy.
Making every other post a winning one from here the Droopys Ruddock – Madibas Legacy blue dog
pulled out a fine seven length winning margin as he hit the line in a nice 29.18. Clonfert Buddy
stayed on for second place a half a length ahead of Harry.
Fundraising Nights A5 525 Semi Final: Blackhall King was first to show in this contest but he
had to give way to both Hawkfield Hugo and Kilgowan Ruby on the run to the first turn. Entering the
back straight first the Jerry Connors owned Hawkfield Hugo brought the field in his slipstream to the
homeward turn. Sticking to the task in hand Hugo a member of the Ballymac Bolger – Brownstown
Tango litter held out for a length success when stopping the clock in 29.21. Pauletta Latte took
second place six ahead of the King.
RCETS App Dual Distance A4/5 550/575 Semi Final: The reserve Carmels Moll was quickest
into her stride pattern in this contest to bring the pack in her slipstream to the final turn. On the run
home the CDJ Syndicate owned Keith Powell trained Forest Kate (Dorotas Wildcat – Mixed Model)
who had laid close throughout pulled in the leader to just hit the line first with a half a length to
spare over Carmels. Stopping the clock in a nice 30.59 Kate opened her winning account. Ballymorris
Buzz made the final line up three lengths adrift.
RCETS App Dual Distance A4/5 550/575 Semi Final: Walkabout Minnie owned by Patrick
and James Flynn following a pretty level start took this contest by the scruff of the neck by bravely
cutting in across her rivals on the opening corner to set herself up for a three length success. Making
all from the first turn Walkabout Minnie (Droopys Sydney – Maxgrove Minnie) had Gortkelly Sandy
finishing strong in second spot as Rathmoyle Biddy was a similar distance back in third place.
Guys & Dolls A3 525 Semi Final: The Jerry Melia trained The Step Inn Sunday Syndicate
owned Legit News showed her rivals a clean pair of heels to the opening corner. Rounding the turn
the Good News – Lizzylegit two year old had Costa Candy chasing closely. The leading pair raced out
front to the home straight and once entering the home run Costa Candy drew level. In fairness to
Legit News she kicked again to win by two as the infield clock stopped at a nice 28.97. Candy in turn
had two to spare over third placed Nametab Freckles.
Guys & Dolls A3 525 Semi Final: Flying Flute was first to show in this contest but he had to
give way to Herecomestrouble on the run to the opening corner. Regaining the lead heading to the third turn Flying Flute (Ballymac Best – Pennys Bobbyjo) began to assert himself for the rest of the
trip. Pulling out a fine four length winning margin on the run home this Eugene Price owned winner
stopped the clock in the evening’s best of 28.74. Effernouge Toby who was not that quickly away
from traps ran on well to take second place four and a half lengths ahead of Freddies Dream.
This Runs Deep A1 525 Semi Final: In a very tightly contested contest from the get go
Lodgefield Mag took up the early running to hit the third turn ahead of Flatland (Lenson Rocky –
Night Time Fairy) and Only a Number. Rounding the final turn Flatland owned by the CDJ Syndicate
and trained by Keith Powell on the outer line hit the front to pull out a very nice two and a half
length success when stopping the clock in a nice 28.87. Mayahs Baby having her first look at the
circuit took second spot a short head in front of Lodgefield Mag.
This Runs Deep A1 525 Semi Final: Racing closed with the Collette Ennis owned Nelly Twink
following Black Emperor into the back straight. Heading down into the third turn Nelly hit the front
and once ahead the Magical Bale – Midas Fern brought her success rate to an impressive six from
ten starts. Stopping the clock in a nice 28.82 she had three and a half lengths in hand over Leviosa
with the Emperor another length and a half back in third.
