Darragh Kirwan, who scored 2-4 in the previous round against holders UCC, opened with two points from play for Maynooth Univesrity in Tuesday evening's Sigerson Cup quarter-final played at Maynooth.
Queens hit back to lead 0-4 to 0-2 with points from Luke Donnelly (free), Diarmuid King and Joe McDade. However the home side leveld up the game with points from Kirwan and Tom Moran.
By half-time Maynooth had regained the lead, Eoghan Frayne and two Darragh Kirwan frees saw Maynooth ahead by the minimum 0-7 to 0-6.
It was tight and tense throughout the second half, little between them; the sides were level at 0-9 apeice before Maynooth were awarded a free in the 60 minute and up stepped Meath's Eoghan Frayne to send the ball between the posts for a great win for the Kildare University side.
A mighty performance from Aidan Minnock's side who will be hoping to reach the final for the first time since 2012.
