Athgarvan's Ella Kenny after winning the World Junior Golf Championship 2024
Athgarvan's Ella Kenny has won the World Junior Golf Championship 2024 after three days of incredible action in Villa Padierna Golf Club in Marbella, Spain. Ella finished best of the over 250 entrants from across the world to take home the title. The young Kildare golfer came from eight shots back on the final day to finish first by a single stroke to become World Champion.
The Leinster Leader spoke with Ella last year, both before and after her incredible US golf adventure. The dramatic World Championship win comes just a week after Ella became the first ever girl to be an Irish Junior Open Tour winner and the first ever girl to win any of the four major Irish Junior Open titles.
It is another step on Ella's incredible golfing journey that started at just two years-old with a bat and a ball.
