Kildare manager Glenn Ryan said after the game that he felt his players “gave it everything they had the chances, they worked savagely hard to create chances and it was certainly an improvement on previous games.”

Admitting that it all about results, the Towers man added “when you are looking to improve you look at every aspect of the game and the play to try and improve the next day.”

Asked about the tension and even a nervousness that was evident, especially in the final ten minutes or so, the manager responded “I'd say there was but having said that it didn't stop us from trying to create stuff; they worked very hard, it was a difficult breeze to score against but they certainly worked very hard to create those chances.”

Asked about the fact Kildare lost three players through injury, three of the starting forwards the manager said “didn't help of course but that is part of the game unfortunately but you have to see it as opportunities for others.”

While all is not lost yet (as regards retaining Division 2 status) Glenn said “we will keep working to try and get better.”
On the injury front the manager said he had not taken to the players yet but will do so now.

Asked if confidence was an issue especially when they were in the ascendancy in the second half, Ryan said that “it's fairly obvious that confidence is not where you would be if you were winning games; a chicken and egg I suppose; it's winning that generates confidence but we worked very hard to create chances and that lack of confidence did not hamper the work-rate.2
We asked a lot of the lads today add they gave it their all, their work-rate was excellent.

Asked if he could see a pathway to get out of the position Kildare find themselves at the moment, Glenn replied “I see a pathway to improvement and where ever that gets us; we will just take it game by game; next week will be another difficult test, particularly when we possibly have some injuries; so we have to just keep improving and trying to get what we can out of the lads.”

Meanwhile Meath manager, Colm O'Rourke, said after the game he “felt sorry for Glenn (Ryan) along with Anthony (Rainbow), Johnny (Doyle) and the rest of the lads the way things have gone” adding “it's time now for the people of Kildare, the Co. Board, and especially the players, to show a bit of loyalty to those men.”
