New Kildare camogie manager Mike Wall reacted to his side's opening day defeat to Laois. He said, “There are a lot of positives to be taken. We have a lot of work to do, scored 2-12, but conceded 3-14. I thought at the end of the day we were unlucky, I don’t think it was a five-point game. Laois were good value for the win, but you saw at the end there that the Laois goalkeeper brought off two world-class saves.”

Aedín Lowry between the Laois posts was called into action late on as Kildare looked to close the gap, but responded brilliantly to keep her team's lead in tact.

Wall added, “We conceded a couple of soft scores during the game that we wouldn’t be overly happy about. But first game out, first competitive game in nearly a year, we’ll take that, it was a good performance.

“We had seven debutants today, I think there were four up from minor so this is a whole new team.

“We wanted to come out here and get a win today, but all in all, we are happy that the team we picked did the best job they could.”
