Kildare County Council issue update on Kerdiffstown Park Development opening

Kildare County Council has today issued an update on the final stages of the Kerdiffstown Park development, as it prepares to open to the public.

The Kerdiffstown Landfill Remediation Project commenced in November 2020, with a contract date for completion of construction set for April 2025. Kildare County Council has confirmed that the project is at the final stages of development, almost a year ahead of schedule.

The landfill infrastructure element of the works is currently in the final stages with snagging and commissioning works currently taking place on site.  It is expected that ‘Substantial Completion’ of these works will be reached in the coming weeks. At that stage, full running of the park and ongoing landfill management, will move from the contractor, Wills Bros, to Kildare County Council.  

Kildare County Council can then carry out final preparations for the park to open to the public.

The multi-use public park will boast an array of amenities, including 3 full-size all-weather pitches, a playground, paths and walking trails and much more.
  
As a remediated landfill site, Kildare County Council has ongoing environmental management and monitoring systems in place, these will be part of the future management of the site, to ensure the protection of public health and the local environment.  Given the nature of the site, it is to be expected that further maintenance work will be required to the landfill and its infrastructure in the future, as the site ages.  This will be managed by Kildare County Council in consultation with the EPA and in accordance with the EPA licence.
