Reece Gavin in top for Moorefield in the UPMC SHC B clash against Clane
Moorefield caused a bit of an upset in Round 3 of the UPMC SHC B at Hawkfield on Tuesday evening, coming from behind to defeat championship favourites Clane by three points.
Clane, relegated from the senior ranks last term, hit two goals inside the opening nine minutes and looked to be on their way. However Moorefield did not panic, remained focused and a goal from Alex Bell in the 26 minute got them right back into the game although trailing at the break by a single point 2-7 to 1-9.
A Paddy McKenna goal early on the resumption had Clane back in control but again Moorefield, with Reece Gavin in top form on the frees, cut the lead back but by mid-way in the second half Clane still led by three.
With three minutes remaining the boys in white still held a two point lead but a Moorefield goal from Niall Barry saw The Moores hit the front for the first time and points from Reece Gavin (free) and Tommy Walsh saw Moorefield make it three wins from three on a final score line of Moorefield 2-17 Clane 3-11.
