Kildare SHC: Coill Dubh shock Celbridge

Coill Dubh Declan Flaherty lays off his hand pass during the Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Final game against Celbridge

Coill Dubh hopes of reaching the semi-final of the UPMC SHC looked all but washed up on Wedesnday evening at Manuard Park, Hawkfield, when trailing by nine points at half time against Celbridge, and ten points early in the second-half. However showing typical Coill Dubh refusal to lie down and turn-over, they battled back to level late on before finishing off the job with two late points from a Mark Delaney 65, followed by a Johnny Byrne point.

Celbridge led at the break 3-11 to 1-8 with goals from Ben Elliott (2) and Andrew McNiff; Johnny Byrne goaling for Coill Dubh.

Celbridge picked up two red cards in the second half but late on the momentum was with Coill Dubh with goals from Declan Flaherty and Eann O'Neill, before the final two points capped off a memorable win and a great comeback.
