Castledermot on the brink of crashing out of Leinster IFC

Ratoath 3-6Castledermot 1-3AIB Leinster Intermediate Football Championship semi-final Castledermot are on the brink of crashing out of the Leinster Intermediate Championship as they have come up against a very committed and talented Ratoath side this afternoon. The Meath champions were out of the blocks like a shot as they found the net inside the opening 60 seconds through captain Bobby O'Brien calmly finished to the net after being played in by Emmett Boyle. Castledermot looked well matched to their opponents in the opening five minutes as Emmett O'Keefe capitalised on some poor defending before racing through and he smashed the ball home. That was as good as it got for the Kildare champions though, as Ratoath took over. A second goal from O'Brien was added to by another major from county star Eamon Wallace in the 22nd minute. Gavin Keating has struck three frees for Castledermot to keep some respectability on the scoreboard, but it would take a monumental effort against the wind in the second half to come out on the right side of this result.
