Footballer and Hurler of the Year prizes to be given out at Kildare GAA awards night tonight

kildare_crest
It will be a night of reflection in Celbridge Manor tonight as the Kildare GAA awards night takes place and there are plenty of interesting categories under consideration.
Following what was an admittedly poor year for the county side in football, Niall Kelly, Paul Cribbin and Eoin Doyle are nominated for the Senior Football County Player of the Year award.
Kelly was fantastic in the Lilywhites win over Cork in the qualifier in Semple Stadium at the end of July, while both Cribbin's and Doyle's impressive seasons culminated in call-ups to the International Rules squad for the series against Australia.
There will also be plenty of interest in the Senior Football Club Player of the Year award as county finalists Athy and Sarsfields dominate that category.
Niall Kelly is again nominated as he helped steer the south Kildare club to the final, while Mattie Byrne also gets a nomination for his stellar performances in midfield throughout the Sash's campaign. Ray Cahill completes the category after hitting 1-17 in the final two games of the Senior Championship and carrying his side's main scoring threat throughout the campaign.
Entertainment on the night will be provided by internet GAA sensation Rory's Stories and Johnny Peters and his band. Things will be getting underway at Celbridge Manor from 7.30pm.
