Sarsfields (Kildare) have had their appeal against a CCC ruling that awarded their U23 Football clash with Naas turned down last evening.
The matter arose from last Saturday's Kildare GAA U23 football quarter-final game between the sides that ended in a draw and was then to be decided in extra time.
During the opening half Sarsfields had a member of their management team sent out of the pitch but before extra-time commenced looked to have him brought back in, a request that was turned down by referee Niall Colgan.
A senior Sarsfields official then approached the match official insisting their manager was entitled to return but the official decided he was not continuing and walked off leaving players of both teams, fans and all present, stunned.
Having received the referee's report the CCC threw Sarsfields out of the competition on Sunday evening, the Newbridge side subsequently appealed that decision to the Hearings Committee, which met on Tuesday and sent the Sarsfields appeal back to the CCC for further consideration.
The CCC met again on Wednesday and again decided to turn down the Sarsfields request and awarded the game to Naas.
Sarsfields are now considering their position as they can still appeal to a higher body.
