After a fantastic victory over Naomh Eamann of Laois last weekend, Maynooth can now look forward to this weekend's AIB Leinster Junior ‘A’ Club final against Knockananna of Wicklow.
The semi-final was a tough encounter and Maynooth had to work hard in dying minutes to secure their final spot.
Manager Brian Meaney was overjoyed with his side’s display: "the conditions were very hard today, and the girls ddid very well, especially after they (Naomh Eamann) got the goal."
Having hit four points in the final five minutes Meaney was delighted his charges stuck to the game plan they had employed all season.
"The girls did what we’ve been doing all year, play it short, pick out the girl and get the scores" said the manager.
One of the main stars for Maynooth was Roisin Forde, having hit eight points on the day, five from play. Forde had been sick throughout the week and so she came in for particular praise from the man on the line.
Next up for Maynooth is a final appearance against Wicklow champions Knockananna and Meaney is
optimistic that his side will be able to put together another performance that will reward them with
their second piece of silver wear of the season.
"They did a great job today, and hopefully they can build on that now for next Sunday."
The Leinster final is fixed for Conneff Park Clane, this Sunday (November 27) with a 12 noon throw-in.
