Sun glare may have been factor in motorway collision on M1
14:57 Friday 15th of February 2019

This was the scene earlier as firefighters from Balbriggan and Swords Fire Brigade Stations dealt with a collision on the M1 Southbound.

A vehicle lost control and ended up at right angles to the road after embedding its front section into the central median hedge.

The incident happened on the Junction 6 and  Junction 5 (Balbriggan).

The driver's door was cut off by fire fighters to free the driver.

The sun was quite strong at the time and may have dazzled the driver.

Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Collisions can happen even in bright sunny weather."
