A Co Kildare mother informed Gardai about a suspicious approach to her daughter while she waited for a bus.

The incident happened in Moyvalley at 6.30pm yesterday evening.

Sinead Howlin, who was waiting for a bus to Dublin, was approached by a man in a silver-coloured older model Toyota who initially asked her for a light.

Mother Eileen explained: "I parked my car just up from bus stop not wanting to leave until I saw that Sinead was safely on bus.

"As we waited, my son and I saw a car pull up beside her and the man asked her for a light and she said she didn't have one and stood back.

"He proceeded to ask questions: 'Where are you going? Are you drinking? Do you have drink?'

"He would not leave her alone. "

The man eventually drove off in the Kinnegad direction.

According to Eileen, the man was a Middle Eastern or Pakistani male who had  a tidy beard. He had a strong build and was wearing a black top.

She added: "My daughter was a little freaked by this incident and didn't go to Dublin afterwards.

"I'm putting this up for people to please be vigilant especially at quiet bus stop areas.

"All I can say was I was glad I waited and that she was not on her own. I would not like to think about what would happen if I didn't wait around."
