Two talented young singers from Newbridge who are also close friends will take to the stage at the All-Ireland Junior Grand Final of Teenstars Ireland 2018 which takes place in Dublin this Saturday, 16 June.
Craig Hughes, 12, and his friend Breanna Deevy, 13, are living in Newbridge and the close friends have teamed up to create a singing duo with the potential to go all the way. Craig attends Scoil na Naomh Uilig and Breanna attends school at St Mary’s College in Naas.
Speaking to KildareNow about the upcoming final this weekend, their mothers Jeanette Hughes and Lorraine Deevy said that they were “very proud” of their talented children.
Jeanette said: “Craig has always been into singing and guitar and Breanna has also been singing from a very young age. We are very proud mammys for them to get to this stage and we wish them all the best and to enjoy every minute of it.”
Both Craig and Breanna attend Leah Moran stage school and for singing they go to Tammy Browne, a Newbridge native who is well-known for her fantastic performances on ‘The Voice of Ireland’ in 2013 as well as previously featuring on talent show ‘You’re A Star’.
Craig is also a huge Bruno Mars fan and he has even performed many of the hit star’s greatest tunes including ‘When I Was Your Man’ at his beloved grandmother’s funeral.
Teenstars Ireland had its first season in 2012 and it was started by Pat & Paula Twomey the directors at Teenstars Ireland who have over 25 years in the entertainment industry between them, and the competition has developed into Ireland's fastest growing singing contest for pre - teens and teens to find Irelands finest young talent , their ability to spot that spark , that light that shines within every child and brings it to the forefront on stage is second to none, Teenstars is a singing contest like no other.
The competition is judged by a judging panel with host Allison Grace Saul, and the 1st place winner will receive a cash prize worth €1,000 plus the Teenstars All-Ireland trophy, 2nd place is a gold star recording studio package with one of Ireland’s WL studios and all 32 competitors will receive trophies and they will also go on to record a charity single with the judges with all funds raised going to a chosen childrens’ charity.
Craig and Breanna plan to do a cover song at the grand final which will take place on Saturday 16 June at The Old Victory Center Auditorim, Firhouse, Dublin, with doors open to the public from 4pm with the show to start at 4.30pm and tickets cost €20 per person (all ages).
This talented duo is sure to do their home town proud on Saturday!
