Kildare County Council have issued a warning to road users after a number of electrical faults across the county have resulted in a failure of traffic lights in some towns.

The raging winds of Storm Ali, which is bringing gusts of up to 120kmh in Kildare, has cut power to thousands of properties throughout the county this afternoon. The ESB are currently working to restore power to homes and businesses this afternoon.

Kildare County Council have said that they are receiving a high number of calls regarding traffic signals around the County. These faults are as a result of ESB power failures in the area, and the Traffic Management Section are aware of the situation and the traffic signals will operate when power is restored.

The north of the county is worst effected with ESB power failures affecting the operation of some Traffic Signals in the following locations;

  • Johnstownbridge
  • Kilcock
  • Leixlip
  • Celbridge
  • Clane
  • Naas
