VIDEO: Jockey manages to hold on after final fence and somehow win race

Amateur rider Michael Sweeney was the big talking point of a Point-to-Point race in east Cork yesterday.

Waterford man Sweeney (20) was leading the field with Ask Heather coming up to the final fence at Killeagh.

However the mare completely mis-judged the jump and the jockey was sent flying over her head - and was left hanging onto her neck, with his boots almost scraping off the ground.

But within a second or two, he somehow used his strength to haul himself up back up and regained his place in the saddle.

Not only did he right Ask Heath but he led her on to win the race! - much to the shock of the spectators watching.
