There were big traffic delays after a lorry wedged itself under Amien Street Bridge in Dublin.

Gardai immediately closed the street in both directions.

 

Units of Dublin Fire Brigade worked to free the vehicle at the scene, near Connolly Station.

Diversions are in place for road users but traffic is busy due to the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Irish Rail said that rail services are operating from Pearse to Greystones and Bray and Connolly to Howth/Malahide.

A spokesperson said: "Trains will now resume between Connolly and Pearse but with strict speed restriction over Amiens St Bridge until further notice.

"The 13.33hrs Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort has departed with 60 minute delay."
