Met Éireann's early June Bank Holiday weekend forecast has one glorious prediction
The mercury is set to rise in Ireland this week with Met Éireann making a glorious prediction for the June Bank Holiday weekend.
Ireland has endured rain and thunderstorms over the last couple of weeks with multiple warnings issued throughout the country. However, that looks set to change with sunshine on the horizon.
Met Éireann is predicting temperatures rising to at least 22C on Sunday with fine weather in store for the whole weekend. Between now and then, we'll have to fend off a little more rain but good times are on the way.
Their latest forecast says: "Mostly cloudy with rain and drizzle at first this morning [Tuesday], heavy at times in the north and east. The rain and drizzle will clear northeastwards through the morning and for the rest of the day there will be scattered showers and some sunny intervals. A few heavy and thundery showers are possible in the afternoon and evening, mainly in Ulster. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, mildest in the east, in a light to moderate southwest to west wind."
They add that Tuesday night there will see "scattered showers and occasional clear spells. Some heavy showers are possible in Ulster early in the night. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in a light westerly or variable wind."
"Tomorrow [Wednesday] there will be a mix of cloud and sunny spells along with well scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, mildest in the southeast, in a light to moderate west to northwest wind.
"Wednesday night will see clear spells and scattered showers, heaviest and most frequent in northern areas. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in a moderate northwesterly breeze."
The Met Éireann outlook continues: "There will be a few showers around on Thursday morning but these will clear leaving dry weather with some sunny spells later in the day. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees in a moderate to fresh northwesterly breeze.
"Dry with long clear spells [on Thursday night]. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in a light northwesterly wind.
"Dry and sunny with light northerly winds [on Friday]. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, coolest near north facing coasts.
"Dry with long clear spells and light northerly winds [on Friday night]. A few pockets of mist and fog may form overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees."
For Saturday, they say it will be "dry with sunny spells in most areas, although it will be cloudy at times near northern coasts. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees with light northerly winds.
"Sunday is looking cloudier but largely dry. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees generally but cooler towards northern coasts," they concluded.
