Women in Co Kildare were in majority for drink driving arrests over Bank Holiday weekend

A majority of women over men were arrested in the Kildare District at the Bank Holiday weekend.

Over 30 drink driving checkpoints were carried out at from Thursday until yesterday, when a person was arrested.

Two women and one man will be appearing before the courts on drink driving charges, with two of these on St Patrick's Day.

The arrests took place in Athy, Castledermot and Kildare town.

According to Kildare Gardaí , there is no major trend in women being arrested more than men for drink driving , or verse versa.
