Work is expected to commence in the near future on a large housing project in Maynooth that will deliver 34 new homes to the area.

The €3.8 million project was originally turned down by Kildare County Council, but an appeal to An Bord Pleanála led to an overturning of that decision and the company, Southport New Homes Limited, were granted permission to build the homes.

According to industry experts CIS, the development is due to commence shortly.

The homes will be built on a 2.02 hectare site in the Mariaville area of Maynooth, and the project will consist of 16 two-storey four-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, 8 three-storey four-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, 6 two-storey three-bedroom semi-detached dwellings and a small number of various sized terrace dwellings.
