Cllr Mark Wall has welcomed the commencement of works on the extension to Churchtown Graveyard Athy.

The extension will also include a new car park to service the graveyard and the local school as well as providing a new footpath to the Community playschool and Community playground.

Cllr Wall commented: "I’ve worked very closely with the Residents of the area , Community Association, Churchtown School and Council on this much needed project.

"The extension and works are due to last approximately 3 months.

"When finished it will provide a much needed extension to Churchtown graveyard for the community while making access to Churchtown school and Community play school safer for all those using them.

"The Community would sincerely like to thank Director Joe Boland and all his environmental staff for their continued assistance with this project."
