A youth who drove a stolen Audi at speeds of 200km/hr in north Kildare rang Gardai to stop chasing him, a court heard.

The teenager (17) stole the high-powered Audi A4 in Co Roscommon on March 14th last and at one point he drove on the wrong side of the M4 motorway.

He also crashed through a toll barrier at Enfield as the chase continued.

Gardaí deployed two stinger devices to puncture his tyres and stop him during the pursuit, a Dublin court heard.

The teenager from Clondalkin, Dublin will be sentenced in December.

He already has 59 prior criminal convictions mostly for motoring offences and was already serving a custodial sentence.
