7 Moorefield players included in Kildare's National League squad

Cian O'Neill has named his squad that will play in this year's National Football League and the new boss has named seven Moorefield men in the 35-man panel.

There are call-ups for Adam Tyrell and Ryan Houlihan, who both impressed in their performances in the O'Byrne Cup, while Kerry native Éanna O'Connor is also included in the squad. Corner-back Liam Healy is also a newcomer to the side.

Hugh Mc Grillen has returned to the fold after a one year hiatus, though Carbury defender Morgan O'Flaherty has missed out on selection despite returning to play in this year's O'Byrne Cup after taking last year out of the county set-up.

County champions Sarsfields have just two players included as midfielder Matty Byrne and veteran Alan Smith are both named in the panel, but there is no place for current Senior Football Championship Player of the Year Ray Cahill who misses out.

County finalists Athy are represented in the squad by Niall Kelly, David Hyland and Kevin Feely, who returned to GAA this summer following a stint playing professional soccer in England.

Kildare begin their Division 3 campaign away to Westmeath on January 31.
