Athy native Jeremy Loughman signed a contract extension with Munster earlier this week to ensure that he remains with the province for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old former Athy RFC joined the southern province on a development contract in December for an initial period of three months, but Munster have extended that to the end of the season.

Loughman made his debut off the bench Johann Van Graan's side on January 1st against Ulster, and made one further appearance so far this year.

Loughman left Leinster as opportunities have been hard to come by at the Blues, with the likes of Tadgh Furlong, Andrew Porter, Michael Bent and Naas youngster Adam Coyle all battling for the tighthead position.

Munster are almost assured of a place in the quarter-finals of the Pro14, and they have also progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions Cup where they will play French side Racing.
