It's a big day for four ladies teams in Kildare today as the Intermediate Championship and Junior Championship finals take place in Hawkfield this afternoon.
The Intermediate Championship final at 3.30pm will be contested by Maynooth and Moorefield, both of whom will be vying for the chance to make the step up to senior level by winning the title on offer today.
Maynooth came through a thrilling semi-final by beating Naas 3-12 to 3-6 almost two weeks ago, and they have county senior star Orlaith Kirwan among their ranks. Moorefield have been progressing through the senior grades for a number of years now, and a win today would finally lift them to senior level after they lost last year's county final to Monasterevan. Their side is backboned by the Curley sisters, Michelle and Aisling, while Kildare goalkeeper Mary Hulgraine is also in their team.
The Ladies Junior Championship final takes place just before that in Hawkfield, with a 2pm throw-in scheduled for that game. Na Fianna got the upperhand when the sides met in the second round of the group stage in this year's championship as they came out on top with a 4-13 to 1-10 win.
