Boxer Donovan ready for biggest fight of his pro career
7:30 Saturday 9th of September 2017

Athy’s Eric Donovan is gearing up for the biggest fight of his professional career to date when he takes to the ring at the National Stadium in Dublin tonight to meet Welshman Dai Davies in a clash for the Celtic title.

32-year-old Donovan has not hesitated in pushing himself forward for major fights, but his four bouts in the pro game so far have been largely against journeymen opponents as he seeks to climb the rankings.

Ultimately, 'Lilywhite Lightning' hopes that he will soon compete for a European belt.

Landing the Celtic title against Davies would mark serious progression towards that goal.

Donovan, whose fight tops the bill at the Celtic Clash 3, has won five Irish Elite titles and a bronze medal at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow.
