Saturday, December 15 will see renowned Kildare town boxing club, St Brigid’s host its biggest ever tournament to date with a super line up of champions competing in the ring. “We will be holding a minimum of 15 fights with all boxers having the opportunity to box for a belt!” said Paddy Phelan. “We will have three European and a world medallist, all from St Brigid’s, competing on the night”.
They include Paddy’s own daughter, Katelyn Phelan, who has claimed both a World and European bronze; and European bronze medal winners Robyn Murran and Kaitlyn Doyle.
“We are delighted to welcome Neilstown BC member and European gold medallist, Winnie McDonagh” added Paddy “So it’s a super line-up with 12 female boxers and six male contestants participating, aged from 11-18 years”.
On behalf of the club, Paddy acknowledged the huge support and generous sponsorship from local businesses.
“We would like to thank each and every one of them. On the night, admission will be €10 per adult and €5 per child. Please spread the word as we want to make this one of the biggest nights of boxing that Kildare has experienced! We need the support of the whole town and surrounding areas to make this possible” concluded Paddy.
Mark the Diary, Night of Champions on December 15, at St Brigid’s Boxing Club, Kildare town; underage competition starts at 3pm with boxers from 6-10 years old competing/ The main tournament commences at 6pm. Tickets available at the door, or from any committee members.
