Clane goalkeeper Ball named in minor All-Ireland All-Star team after starring for Kildare this summer

Kildare minor goalkeeper John Ball has been named on the Minor All-Star Football Team of the Year following his strong performances for the Lilywhites in 2018.
The Clane netminder was one of the standout performers for Padraig Carbury's young side as they made it to the Leinster final where they were eventually beaten by Meath. They exited the championship at the quarter-final stage to Monaghan a couple of weeks later, but Ball remained consistent throughout both defeats.
His finest performance came in the Leinster semi-final replay against Wicklow in Aughrim where he made several fine saves to prevent goals in a tight encounter which saw the Lilywhites reach the provincial final. Unfortunately for the talented young 'keeper, Ball suffered a serious leg injury in a recent minor championship match for his club against St Laurence's.
All-Ireland champions Kerry had four representatives in the All-Star team while beaten finalists Galway had three members who received awards.
