Confey manager Burke appointed as Kildare's first ever U20 football manager

Confey boss Davy Burke has been appointed as the manager of the Kildare U20 footballers in what will be the first ever season of the new age grade, which replaces the U21 bracket.
Burke has enjoyed great success with Confey over the last two years, the highlight of which was the club's capture of the Division 1 league title in 2016 when they beat Athy in the final, while they also made it to the last four of the Kildare Senior Football Championship in 2016.
Burke takes over the Lilywhites team that will be competing in the Leinster U20 Football Championship, and this age group will likely act as a springboard for young players looking to make the breakthrough from the minor grade up to senior level. Kildare should have a strong team for the competition next year with the bulk of the 2016 Leinster Minor Championship winning team likely to backbone the side.
They open their championship campaign against Laois on May 28, while they will also face Meath and Wicklow in their group.
